Set in a "metaphysical Connecticut", a married couple who are both doctors have hired a housekeeper named Matilde, an aspiring comedian from Brazil who's more interested in coming up with the perfect joke than in house-cleaning. This theatrical and wildly funny play is a whimsical and poignant look at class, comedy and the true nature of love. This extraordinary new play by an exciting new voice in the American drama was runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize.
Contains adult themes and language. |

Leslie Breton (Matilde) Leslie is extremely excited to be making her acting
debut at Bus Barn Stage Company after a long hiatus. She started off her
career in theatre as a performer and swiftly gave into her OCD tendencies to
work as a stage manager in the Bay Area. Her previous acting credits include
THE ADDING MACHINE at Foothill College; a New Works Festival at San Jose
State University; THE WAITING ROOM, THE 1940'S RADIO HOUR, and THE BALTIMORE
WALTZ at Cal State University, Monterey Bay; and LA VIRGIN DE TEPAYAC, LA
PASTORELA, and CENCI with El Teatro Campesino, to name a few. She has had
the privilege of stage managing for Bus Barn Stage Company, City Lights
Theater Company, Pear Avenue Theater, The San Francisco Shakespeare
Festival, and Civic Arts Stage Company in a slew of fantastic productions.
Leslie would like to thank her theatre family, actual family, and dear
friends for their loving support on this amazing journey. Another special
thanks goes out to the cast, crew, and production team of THE CLEAN HOUSE.
Without your artistic generosity this version of Matilde wouldn't have been
possible. Muito obridgada. |

Dragon Productions (A DELICATE BALANCE), City Lights (EQUUS), Cal Shakes
(Understudy, ROMEO AND JULIET), and TheatreWorks (New Works Festival). She
has studied at Seydways Acting Studio, Studio ACT and the Royal Academy of
Dramatic Art. She is delighted to be working for the first time at Bus Barn
Stage Company. |

Carolyn Ford Compton (Virginia) is enjoying her second appearance at Bus
Barn, the first being Sister Clarissa in OVER THE TAVERN. Carolyn has
performed at various theatres on the Peninsula and South Bay, and has
portrayed characters in several productions, including MACBETH, CHARLEY'S
AUNT, THE SHAKER CHAIR, STEEL MAGNOLIAS, and ROMEO AND JULIET among others.
She sends gratitude to Bus Barn, Jeanie Smith, and the outstanding cast and
crew of this production for their dedication and hard work. And of course,
love to Darlin' Darryl, even though he has said many times that this role of
Virginia is definitely not "type casting". |

Barbara J. Cannon (Artistic Director, Costume Designer) has worked professionally as a director since 1991, when she directed her first show
with Hillbarn Theatre in Foster City. Since that time, she has directed
over 50 productions and served as Associate Director at Hillbarn Theater

She has directed 27 shows for Bus Barn, the most recent being THE GOVERNMENT
INSPECTOR, and has designed a multitude of costumes, sets, and props.
Chris Enni (Sound Designer) is beginning his fourth year of sound design at Bus Barn. Having worked on fifteen productions beginning with THE COMPLETE
WORKS OF SHAKESPEARE, ABRIDGED in 2008 up to this current production of THE
CLEAN HOUSE, Chris thinks he can solidly state that he has gotten his feet
wet, in fact, quite soaked to the socks. Some favorites have been LEADING
LADIES, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE and SYLVIA. Chris graduated from UCSD in 1990
with a degree in music, studying Prokofiev by day and playing reggae by
night. His life is a bit different now as he continues to write, produce,
and record during the day and by night, transform into a theater rat.

Company, Bus Barn Stage Company, Stage One, 42nd St. Moon, Hillbarn Theatre
Company, and Shady Shakespeare Theatre Company and most recently The Jewel
Theatre Company are a few of the theatre companies where you may have seen
his work. Visit www.TheSetGuy.com to learn more about Ron.
Jeanie K. Smith (Director) is delighted to return to the Bus Barn, having last directed Bus Stop in 2009. Her directing credits elsewhere include world premieres-- Vehicle, A Beautiful Home for the Incurable, and
Veracruz-- as well as the classics Mrs. Warren's Profession, The Seagull,

Night, Eccentricities of a Nightingale, Metamorphoses, Hay Fever, and Angels
in America: Part One at the Pear Avenue Theatre; Noises Off, The Perfect
Wedding, and A Light in the Piazza at Palo Alto Players; and A Streetcar
Named Desire at the Dragon. The Seagull won her the Dean Goodman Choice
Award, and several of her shows have won WAVE Small Theatre awards. She

for the Palo Alto Weekly, and is a member of the SF Bay Area Theatre Critics
Circle.

Theatre) and film ("Dumbarton Bridge", "Trouble in Mind").
Dianne Vega (Stage Manager) has been working as a stage manager and production manager for over twenty years working with various South Bay
companies. She is pleased to stage manage for the first time with Bus Barn
Stage Company. Dianne recently stage managed THE MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN
